Abstract
Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) is a service from Google that helps developers send data from servers to their Android applications on Android devices. Using this mechanism, an application need not be running on an Android device and system on message receive will wake up the application as long as it is set to do so.
In this presentation, Hari Bawa will walk you through how to build Google Cloud Messaging capability for your Android applications.
Bio
Hari Bawa is a Managing Architect with Information Control Corporation (ICC). He has more than 19 years of IT Software Development and Architecture experience, and more than 13 13 years is Java technologies (Mobile, Desktop-Swing, Web, and Enterprise). Hari is also a Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for JEE 5 and JEE 1.4 platforms. Hari successfully led his first Mobile application development effort in 2001 using Personal Java and JME technologies and has been following mobile development since then. Hari was a Mobile Architect for Huntington Bank’s Android, iPhone and iPad applications and a developer for Nationwide’s Mobile Android application. Hari enjoys working on new and cutting edge Mobile, Web, and Enterprise technologies.
